BioCellection, a California-based environmental start-up founded by 24-year-old Vancouver natives Miranda Wang and Jeanny Yao, is focusing on recycling plastics that cannot be recycled. | Heat wave leads to increased power demand BC HYDRO BC Hydro predicts province wide electricity demand could exceed the historical record for the month of June as the first summer heat wave hits the province. On Monday, BC Hydro recorded the highest peak hourly demand – the hour customers use the most electricity – of the season. At nearly 7,300 megawatts, this represents more than a 10 per cent increase over the previous Monday. |     |
| Green certified office space no rarity in Canada REMI NETWORK Green certified office space now predominates in the Vancouver and Toronto markets. A new study from CBRE and the Netherlands’ Maastricht University concludes that, on a square footage basis, more than 50 per cent of the commercial inventory in the two cities now boasts LEED or BOMA BEST status.
