On this day in 1986, the Royal family were celebrating the marriage of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew in Westminster Abbey. To those attending, the wedding was a beautiful occasion with no indication of turbulent times that lay ahead for both the bride and groom. The Canberra Times reported that 300 million people tuned in, and described her dress as rich ivory silk, covered in beaded patterns and pearls, and with anchors, waves and hearts decorating the 5.3 metre train.
