| Question of the Week | | Tuesday we asked: A report by the Worcester Regional Research Bureau found 31 percent of Worcester workers would receive a pay bump if the state's minimum wage were increased to $15 per hour. Another 9 percent would receive raises to preserve a pay hierarchy within their companies. | How would a $15 minimum wage impact your company? | | Our company has vary position and takes on students during the summer. I do not agree with the only choices you offer. Not every should begin at $15/hr. Depends on what they do, experience, and so on. Benefits in this market are really important, like health insurance. That maybe more important to many full time workers. The min. wage is for entry level jobs, including high school kids. It just went up from $8 to $11. Another increase will mean fewer entry level jobs. The problem isn't that the min. wage is too low, the problem is why are some people staying in entry level jobs as adult employment. Improvements in education and employment training is a better solution than just paying people more to do the same low skill job. Who would hire a student that is 16 yrs old and his first job for $15. per hour? | See All Comments >> | |
