BY ADAM DAIGLE | Acadiana Business Editor Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Boulet's plans to revitalize Bertrand Drive and part of Johnston Street have hit a roadblock. The City Council at Tuesday's meeting pressed the brakes on final adoption of an ordinance that would swap part of the state-owned Johnston Street and Bertrand Drive with part of the city-owned Ambassador Caffery Parkway to facilitate revitalization, connectivity and safety projects. Generally, Boulet envisions a more appealing and safer Johnston Street from roughly Acadiana Mall to the interstate, with fewer utility poles, billboards and business signs, and with wide paths for pedestrians and bicyclists set away from the busy roadway.
