Israel announced that it would take steps to increase the flow of aid to Gaza, a White House official said, after President Joe Biden suggested in a phone call to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. could condition military aid to Israel over the humanitarian crisis. A spokesperson for the White House National Security Council said that Israel had committed to opening the Erez border crossing to let aid flow into northern Gaza, as well as opening the Ashdod port to allow assistance to be directly delivered into Gaza and significantly boosting deliveries from Jordan. |
