Roger Stone, a friend of President Donald Trump and colorful Republican operative, was sentenced to 3 years, 4 months in federal prison Thursday for obstructing a congressional investigation of Russia's 2016 presidential election meddling. But Stone, 67, will not have to report to prison until the judge acts on a pending defense motion for a new trial, based on a claim of juror bias. He was convicted in November of misleading the HouseIntelligence Committee in 2017 about his efforts to learn of plans by WikiLeaks to release e-mails hacked from the Democratic Party and the Hillary Clinton campaign. |
