Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced on Friday the timeline for former President Donald Trump's second impeachment trial. Schumer, D-N.Y., said that the article of impeachment charging Trump with inciting the Capitol riot will be sent to the Senate on Monday evening and the trial would begin the week of Feb. 8. The managers, members of the House who act as trial lawyers, will be sworn in on Tuesday. The trial could start as early as next week, but Senate leaders indicated it could be delayed to allow Trump to organize his defense. |
