| Hey there, For pediatric cancer patients, every day is a cloudy one inside their hospital wards and treatment rooms. It’s an oppressive gray, a dull white and a muted brown like the hospital corridors they travel through to get from one department to another. We know that. But we also know that color inspires optimism, an important weapon for children fighting cancer. So our national service volunteers recently asked the children: How do these colors make you feel? They showed them all different colors. With the kids’ help, our volunteers created a wheel of colors to replace the gray and introduce color more concretely into the children’s lives. Here’s what they came up with: Red - love, Green - growth, Pink - a treat, Blue - purity, Yellow - joy, Black - power, Heat - stability, Orange - courage, Purple - magic, Light blue - peace. One of our patients, Emma, became a model for the newly named colors and hopeful feelings. Providing a different perspective can often change a person’s complete outlook. We hope that the Rachashei Lev children will now see color in a different way– and even more, be comforted by the colorful programs we share with them. |
