NATIONAL MASTER PLAN CONFERENCE
Vietnam has launched its National Master Plan for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, with the aim of building a strong and prosperous country that prioritizes the well-being of its people. Prime Minister Chinh chaired a teleconference with representatives from all 63 cities and provinces on 20 April to launch the plan. Britcham has extended the invitation to all members.
Under the National Master Plan, Vietnam is targeting an average annual GDP growth rate of around 7% during the 2021-2030 period. The plan also sets the goal of increasing the country's per capita income to $7,500 by 2030.
Vietnam is aiming to become a developed nation by 2050. To achieve this, the country will strive to achieve net-zero emissions, and average economic growth during the 2031-2050 period will reach 6.5-7.5% annually. |

VIETNAM'S GOVERMENT APPROVES PROPOSAL TO REDUCE VAT BY 2%
After a long and persistent advocacy effort from the business community, the government has just approved a MOF’s proposal to reduce the value-added tax (VAT) by 2% for all goods and services that are currently taxed at 10%.
For the reduction of the VAT, the Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has agreed in principle to the Ministry of Finance's proposal and submit a resolution to the National Assembly for consideration, allowing for the development and issuance of a resolution on the reduction of VAT in a streamlined and simplified manner.
BritCham has been taken part in raising this proposal alongside other organisation and will continue advocate for the benefit of business. |

REVISED DRAFT LAW ON LAND
The current Law on E-Transactions of Vietnam, which entered into force in March 2006, demonstrates limitations in managing new issues emerging from technological applications developing in the nation.
The draft amended Law on ETransactions was first released on 4 May 2022 by the Ministry of Information and Communication (the MIC). The new law is expected to update and refine the existing legal framework to keep pace with the potential ramifications of the rapidly evolving landscape of e-commerce and digital technology. |
