On Friday December 11th, BritCham Vietnam members and guests officially launched the holiday season at the Caravelle Saigon Hotel with its Annual Christmas Long Lunch. All the jolly attendees enjoyed a delicious turkey lunch, free flow drinks, and a special presentation from Dr. Jeremy Day of the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Vietnam (OUCRU). Professor Day presented "SARS WARS: A NEW HOPE", the latest insights on COVID19 vaccine developments and challenges.   

BritCham Vietnam is very pleased to announce that today the UK Secretary of State for Trade Liz Truss and Vietnam’s Minister Tran Tuan Anh from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, concluded the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) in Hanoi. The signing of the UKVFTA provides essential continuity to the close trading relationship between the UK and Vietnam, transitioning the benefits from the EU-Vietnam FTA into a UK-Vietnam bilateral agreement from 1 January 2021. The agreement provides opportunities to increase trade and support jobs and growth on both sides.
Specific benefits to UK exporters and importers include:
• Elimination of 65% of tariffs, increasing to 99% after seven years.
• Protecting iconic British products through the continued protection of geographical indications.
• Maintaining opening up of services and public procurement markets.
• Cutting red tape and making sure the agreed rules are enforceable.

Officially Broadcast VinaPhone 5G in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in December 2020
