By KELLY P. KISSEL | Metro editor With recent crime in Baton Rouge, the last thing the city needs are bad cops. Chief Murphy Paul held a news conference and said two officers had been arrested: One's accused of sexual battery and another is accused of leaking details about a drug investigation. A third officer was accused of swapping price tags on items at a Denham Springs Walmart in an effort to save money. And Paul also outlined allegations against a fourth now-former officer, saying he tapped into a database to research the chairman of the local civil service board. And in Ascension Parish, a jailer is in trouble. Recently leaked video of a fight inside the Ascension Parish jail apparently came from someone who was supposed to be guarding the inmates. Now he's an ex-jailer. LSU's season opener is almost here. The quest is about to begin anew for Brian Kelly in his search for a national championship. It's the thing that eluded him at Notre Dame. |
