The figures were brought to light by Camila Russo of The Defiant, using ERC20 token data found on Etherscan. These do not include other Ethereum-based token standards such as ERC721, which would add even further to the total value of assets based on the Ethereum network. The governor of the Bank of England has stated that the UK is considering creating its very own central bank digital currency (CBDC), following in the footsteps of several other countries worldwide. The UK may have a much faster road toward launching its CBDC compared to other European countries, who face more bureaucratic hurdles from the EU and Eurozone. Chinese investors are already making large purchases of Filecoin mining hardware and contracts, despite the network not yet having a mainnet, nor finalized economics.
