☀️ Get out and enjoy some sun if you can Tuesday — there won’t be a lot of it for the next few days.
🌡️ Temperatures will warm into the 80s across southern Minnesota Tuesday to even near 90 degrees in southwest Minnesota. An isolated shower or two is possible in northeast Minnesota.
🌧️ Wednesday will still be warm but clouds will increase. Afternoon highs will be mostly in the 70s. Then the first of potentially multiple rounds of storms develops Wednesday afternoon and evening

New Minnesota budget sealed up in legislative spree as immigrant health coverage rescinded

The Minnesota Legislature buzzed through remaining budget work in a special session that lasted just shy of 16 hours. Gov. Tim Walz is expected to sign bills later this week. None of the special session debates were more intense than a bill to strip health insurance coverage from immigrants in the country without legal status.

Eichorn seeks to dismiss federal child solicitation indictment as ‘vindictive’

Defense attorneys Charles Hawkins and Arthur Waldon argue that Eichorn is being targeted because he was a public official, but they’re not accusing federal prosecutors of partisan bias.

🪧 Duluth EPA lab workers speak out in face of possible federal cuts. Employees at a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency research lab in Duluth spoke passionately about their work to the Duluth City Council Monday evening, urging elected officials and city residents to speak out about the lab’s importance.
🏛️ Minnesota Department of Health cancels some layoffs after lawsuit to block federal funding cuts. Health officials said that only current staff members have retained their jobs. The recission of layoff notices does not apply to temporary staff or contractors who were laid off in the spring.
🌿 Winners in Minnesota’s first cannabis lottery mistakenly told their licenses were denied. All 249 cannabis businesses that won in the state’s first cannabis lottery last week were mistakenly informed on Monday that they were not selected for a license.
🚙 Duluth council backs program providing safe space for people sleeping in their cars. A program that provides a safe place to park for people living out of their vehicles in Duluth has reopened after the city council unanimously rejected an appeal filed by neighbors concerned about safety and privacy issues.
❓ The great Upper Midwest standoff: Nation thinks Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa are all 'equally good.' A national survey finally addresses the age-old question: “Which state is better? Minnesota, Wisconsin or Iowa?” The most popular answer? “All are equally good.”
🚗 Ramsey County unexpectedly closes St. Paul bridge after inspection. Ramsey County closed the Jackson Street bridge north of downtown St. Paul after a routine inspection found deterioration. In addition to being closed off to vehicles, bike and pedestrian traffic will also be prohibited.
🚨 Minneapolis police: 2-year-old girl, father dead in apparent murder-suicide. A 2-year-old girl was shot and killed at a home in Minneapolis early Monday. Police said they believe the child was killed by her father, who then fatally shot himself.
🏒 The Minnesota Frost lose two more players in the PWHL expansion draft. The new Vancouver team selected unprotected forwards Brooke McQuigge and Denisa Krizova in Monday’s draft. The Frost also lost defenders Claire Thompson and Sophie Jacques, both who signed with Vancouver last week
