Canada working towards new future for Indigenous-led conservation
In 2015, Canada committed to conserve at least 17% of its terrestrial lands and waters and 10% of coastal and marine areas by 2020. Canada is unlikely to meet that or more ambitious conservation goals without the support and involvement of the Indigenous peoples whose territories overlap much of Canada’s existing protected areas and remaining intact ecosystems

Ivory Coast is using plastic waste to build schools
A community in Ivory Coast has partnered with UNICEF to transform landfill waste into bricks for schools. The classrooms cost almost half the price of conventional building materials and can be built using just a hammer. Since 2018, plastic waste has been turned into 26 classrooms.
