🌅 Good morning!

🌹 Tell me: Have you been watching "The Golden Bachelorette," and if so, what do you think of the show and contestants?

The inaugural season of the show has become an unexpected breeding ground for male friendships.

💔 A 2021 study from the Survey Center on American Life found that 15% of American men report having no close friends.

Our resident "Bachelor" franchise expert Margaret Darby observed that a second chance at love has become the least important plot line. Viewers have noted that watching Joan’s suitors discover love and support through friendship amongst each other is the more endearing and entertaining narrative.

🤝 Read more about how watching self-proclaimed lonely men bond and heal through newfound friendships has been the real treat to watch.

Meet 2 of the candidates running to be Utah's next attorney general

We are running a series of stories profiling the candidates running for attorney general this year. Here are some key points about the Democratic and Republican candidates.

Democrat Rudy Bautista:

  • Rudy Bautista is a seasoned defense attorney.

  • Bautista said he sees the recent Utah lawsuit on public lands as a money grab.

  • “He cares about people and justice,” Tawni Bugden, who is a defense attorney, said. “He always fights for the underdog.”

Read more about Bautista.

Republican Derek Brown:

  • Derek Brown has served as legal counsel to two U.S. senators.

  • Brown said he would prioritize protecting children from harms of social media and fight for Utah's land.

  • “I’m all in for Derek Brown,” former Democratic attorney general candidate Greg Skorda said. “When I heard he was running for attorney general, it was the best news I had that month."

Read more about Brown.

🗳️ A story on third-party candidates Michelle Quist and Andrew McCullough will be published in the coming days on our site.

Why No. 13 BYU’s miraculous win over Oklahoma State to stay perfect will live forever in Cougar lore

No. 13 BYU stunned Oklahoma State Friday night in 38-35 fashion thanks to a touchdown strike from Jake Retzlaff to Darius Lassiter in the contest’s final moments.

What Retzlaff said: “That was out-of-body. That was a spiritual experience. That was insane,” Retzlaff said.

Retzlaff engineered the come-from-behind 38-35 win over the Pokes much the way the greats before him — such as Robbie Bosco and the 1984 national championship team — did, finding Darius Lassiter for the game-winning 35-yard touchdown catch with 10 seconds remaining.

How Lassiter responded: “Yeah, emotions all over the place right now. I don’t know if I wanted to cry, be happy, but I am just glad we were able to get the job done,” said Lassiter, who caught six passes for 129 yards, including one the first play of the game that went for 50 yards.
