Cable news ratings; Ana Cabrera mounts a strong debut at MSNBC, while Elon Musk torpedoes a certain social media platform

It can't be easy to have the launch of your daily cable news show completely derailed by yet another mass shooting in America. But Ana Cabrera, the anchor who recently joined MSNBC from CNN, handled the debut of her show like the pro she is.
We would expect nothing less from Cabrera, who spent the last decade working her way up to the hosting chair at CNN. Her impressive reporting and hosting chops are why MSNBC chief Rashida Jones poached the anchor from CNN to helm Ana Cabrera Reports, a new show airing daily at 10 a.m.
The show, which airs from a sleek set at 30 Rock, kicked off with a lengthy and news-packed segment on abortion rights in America. Then, around 10:15 a.m., Cabrera turned to cover tragic news out of Louisville, Kentucky: a gunman opened fire at a bank, killing four people and wounding nine more before being shot dead by police.
Cabrera, with assists from NBC News heavyweights like Ken Delanian, delivered sober updates on the breaking news throughout the hour. It was a strong showing from MSNBC's new anchor.

Where to even start?
Elon Musk's chaotic mismanagement of Twitter, the unprofitable social media platform he paid a staggering $44 billion for, took a turn for the even-more-chaotic last week thanks to the bizarre whims of its CEO.
First, he stripped the New York Times of its blue check after the news outlet said it would not be paying for verification (something many news outlets have said — yet only the Times was punished). Then, he slapped an inaccurate label on NPR, prompting an uproar and an embarrassing backtrack from Musk.
But the real error — and a mistake that threatens to do real damage — was his war on Substack. Musk, reportedly upset that the newsletter platform is launching a Twitter-like feature, sought to throttle its reach on his own platform. That prompted an uproar from Twitter users like Matt Taibbi, who have been champions of Musk in the past and create free content for the platform.
Suffice to say: treating your top users terribly is not a recipe for success.
