MEDIA WINNER: Ana Cabrera It can't be easy to have the launch of your daily cable news show completely derailed by yet another mass shooting in America. But Ana Cabrera, the anchor who recently joined MSNBC from CNN, handled the debut of her show like the pro she is. We would expect nothing less from Cabrera, who spent the last decade working her way up to the hosting chair at CNN. Her impressive reporting and hosting chops are why MSNBC chief Rashida Jones poached the anchor from CNN to helm Ana Cabrera Reports, a new show airing daily at 10 a.m. The show, which airs from a sleek set at 30 Rock, kicked off with a lengthy and news-packed segment on abortion rights in America. Then, around 10:15 a.m., Cabrera turned to cover tragic news out of Louisville, Kentucky: a gunman opened fire at a bank, killing four people and wounding nine more before being shot dead by police. Cabrera, with assists from NBC News heavyweights like Ken Delanian, delivered sober updates on the breaking news throughout the hour. It was a strong showing from MSNBC's new anchor. |
