Welcome to a special edition of Live From The Green Room: Mediaite's Aidan McLaughlin and Colby Hall are down in Wilmington, Delaware to cover what has been called the media trial of the century: Dominion Voting Systems's $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox News. The trial will kick off at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning after it was delayed one day by a judge amid feverish speculation that Fox is pushing for an 11th hour settlement with the elections tech company. Whether the two sides are close to a settlement is anyone's guess — their representatives are keeping the flow of information extremely locked down. For now, it appears this trial will be kicking off Tuesday morning, with key witnesses from Fox News, including everyone from hosts Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity to the big boss Rupert Murdoch expected to testify, maybe as soon as this week. You can follow the trial right here, with daily recaps at the end of each day, and check out our full coverage on Mediaite. |

| | MEDIA WINNER: Greg Gutfeld Greg Gutfeld's impressive ratings streak continues. On Friday, the Fox News funny-man earned the distinction of having the top two shows in terms of the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demographic: The Five, his very popular panel show, and Gutfeld!, the 11 p.m. comedy program that Fox launched to compete with the late night titans. And compete it has: on Friday Gutfeld! drew 1.7 million viewers overall and 270,000 in the demo, a seriously impressive feat for a cable news program in that hour. The Five, which Gutfeld co-hosts, landed in the top spot with a whopping 309,000 demo viewers, a number that nearly tripled the competition on CNN. Overall, Fox News won the day in the demo with 184,000 average total day viewers. MSNBC came in second with 111,000 total average demo viewers and CNN was third with 95,000 viewers in the demo. The ratings win comes on the back of Gutfeld reaching the two-year mark of his comedy show, as well as announcing a new book declaring himself the “king of late night.” The book, aptly titled The King of Late Night, will peel back the curtain on the conception of his Fox program and how he managed to carve out such a massive and consistent late-night audience for himself. |

| MEDIA LOSER: Tucker Carlson Tucker Carlson brazenly accused the media and U.S. government of lying about the war in Ukraine last week. According to the Fox News host, leaked intelligence proved Russia is crushing Ukraine, the country Carlson has regularly and bizarrely trashed as it faces an unprovoked war from its larger neighbor. The media and the US government, he said, are lying that Ukraine is faring well against Russia. “The second thing we learned from these slides is that despite direct U.S. involvement, Ukraine is in fact losing the war. Seven Ukrainians are being killed for every Russian. Ukrainian air defenses have been utterly degraded,” Carlson declared. As it turns out, the documents Carlson based his accusations on are fake. They came from a pro-Russia social media propaganist known as Donbass Devushka, who was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal over the weekend after being unmasked as a former U.S. Navy noncommissioned officer named Sarah Bils. Carlson has yet again shown his lack of journalistic chops, willing to quickly parrot weaponized information to fit his own agenda. As for Fox News: a normal news network would issue an extensive correction and apology for such an egregious error. We aren't holding our breath. |
