Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Jake Tapper

CNN's Jake Tapper offered a fair and non-partisan assessment of new evidence filed in Dominion Voting Systems' $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News.

Speaking to CNN commentator Alyssa Farah and analyst Bakari Sellers about the bombshell lawsuit, Tapper noted Fox News’ on-air talent has been largely silent on the matter, including Bret Baier.

Tapper and the panel highlighted the gravity of the suit, especially as Rupert Murdoch admitted under-oath that Fox News promoted election lies on air

The panel went on to discuss texts Tucker Carlson sent to an unknown staffer claiming to hate former President Donald Trump "passionately."

While Tapper was generally critical of the network for pushing lies on the 2020 election, he fairly noted that Carlson disparaging Trump in private texts does not actually do much to prove he knowingly defamed Dominion.

In fact, he went as far as to say that the texts to some extent support Fox's argument that the suit is meant to embarrass the network -- an astute take from the CNN host.

MEDIA LOSER:
Jenna Ellis

Former Trump election lawyer Jenna Ellis posted a bizarrely cruel though unsurprising tweet mocking Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) getting hospitalized after falling at a private dinner.

Ellis shared a video showing a turtle falling down a flight of stairs, joking that it was "camera footage from last night’s McConnell dinner."

McConnell is currently being treated for a concussion at George Washington University Hospital after he fell at a dinner event Wednesday at D.C.'s Waldorf Astoria hotel.

Naturally, pundits and media figures were quick to criticize Ellis for the tweet.

CNN's Jake Tapper reacted by tweeting, "The basic lack of humanity constantly displayed by these people is truly remarkable."

Ellis' cruel tweet also came just hours after it was revealed she admitted in a disciplinary hearing she misrepresented evidence about the 2020 election on at least 10 occasions.

The hearing prompted the Colorado Supreme Court’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel to conclude that Ellis violated a rule for professional conduct among attorneys in the state and has been censured by a Colorado judge. Yikes.
