Good morning, and welcome to the January 17 edition of the Saints Insider newsletter. Take a load off with a cup of coffee (or, if you're a five o'clock somewhere person, a glass of California red) and let's dive into the pertinent Saints news to know, shall we? Go West, young men The Saints are taking the training camp show on the road in 2024 while they complete construction on their Airline Drive facility. That part we already knew, but we now know where that where is. New Orleans will conduct its training camp practices in Irvine, California, a suburb of Los Angeles, sources told our columnist Jeff Duncan. The Saints are going to hold practices in the Los Angeles Rams' old digs. The official start date and practice times for training camp are traditionally announced by the NFL in midsummer. It remains unclear whether practices in Irvine will be open to the public. An official announcement is expected to be made after a deal is finalized between the school and team. And, with the Saints headed West, expect the team's first two preseason games to be played near where they're holding camp. Talkin' camp, free agency and Mardi GrasThe Saints Insider crew got together to talk about the latest happenings over at 5800 Airline Drive on the latest edition of our podcast, including our takes on the Krewe of Chaos' satirical Saints float. Give it a listen, or watch the video version here. We'll host at least one show per week during the offseason, so if you like what you hear, please subscribe and send some questions or comments our way. Staff coming togetherOffensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's staff is continuing to take shape, as the team is adding experienced offensive line coach Rick Dennison in a yet-to-be-determined role. This Saints Insider's take: Kubiak's initial staff has a nice mix of youth and experience, mixing a couple assistants with decades of service time in the NFL alongside a couple 30-something coaches. We'll see how it plays out on the field, but I like the idea. That's all we've got for now. Enjoy your weekend! Cheers, Luke Johnson |
