Good afternoon, friends. Hope your Tuesday is treating you well. Here's what's on the menu at the NOLA.com cafe. Teachers speak out: The state is moving to a new school rating system, and educators have a lot of concerns about it. Elyse Carmosino has this story about a packed hearing Monday night during which those concerns were aired. Bright lights big city: You might have noticed the colorful lights on the Crescent City Connection over the past few days. The new lighting system on the iconic spans is being tested and putting on quite the show. Calling all Boo Birds: The Denver Broncos don’t play the Saints until mid-October. But Saints defensive end Cam Jordan is already talking about the game that will bring Coach Sean Payton back to the Caesars Superdome. Also, it’s roster cutdown day for the Saints, which means parting with some players. Check out our tracker to follow it as it happens. Parade route shakeup: A couple of Uptown parades are looking at route changes for next year. One is getting shorter, the other longer and Doug MacCash tells us why.
