Keep reading for the forecast through the weekend… Tomorrow (Wednesday): Continued cloudy and cool, thanks to stronger onshore winds. Highs are mostly in the 60s to near 70, with breezes from the northeast direction around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-high Tomorrow night: Cloudy skies continue as temperatures cool to overnight lows from near 50 in the outer suburbs to the upper 50s in the city. Confidence: Medium-high A LOOK AHEAD Thursday and Friday feature similar weather, with partly sunny skies (at least during the afternoons!) as highs near and surpass 70, perhaps up to the mid-70s. It’s partly cloudy Thursday night with lows ranging from the upper 40s to the middle 50s. Friday night shifts to cloudy with a chance of rain toward dawn as lows drop to the middle 50s to around 60. Confidence: Medium Oh, woe, the weekend! Hurricane Matthew makes it closest approach at this time. It may head out to sea from near the Carolinas or it could scrape the coast just to our east. For now, I’ll favor the modest approach of mostly cloudy skies, breezy, scattered showers, and highs in the upper 60s to low 70s both days. It’s cloudy Saturday night with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Very low Note: If we were to receive heavier precipitation and higher winds from Matthew, the main risk window looks to be Saturday and Saturday night, with some reduction later on Sunday. We must watch this situation very closely and hopefully develop better confidence by tomorrow or Thursday. |
