Perhaps your ability to look within coupled with a reflective practice such as meditation is what is contributing to your Zenlike state of mind. Engaging in some form of contemplative activity such as guided meditation or visualization could help you maintain your sense that all is well with the world. As you first become attuned to the rhythm of your breath, you can picture yourself in a place of perfect calm, such as in the woods or on the beach. Imagine the surroundings around you; the breeze rustling in the leaves or the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. While in this place, try to see that everything around you is, in fact, part of you, that you are all one. You might notice a growing sense of well-being and calm from this visualization. Visualization is a powerful tool that allows us to become one with the world around us. When we picture the environment of our everyday lives, it tends to be filled with bustling activity and noise. Being able to escape to another place, even if only within the confines of our imagination, helps us calm our minds. It may seem that our visualization coupled with our breath takes us to another imaginary place, but in reality, it brings us into a deeper layer of ourselves where there is only peace.
