Meet Cassie this Friday at the Liverpool City Library
| Hi, Cassie McCullagh here, For the last month, ABC Sydney has put a special focus on Liverpool. We've been chatting with locals on what it's like to live and work in Sydney’s fast-growing southwest, and exploring how the region is preparing for the future. I’ll be hosting the last of our series of live broadcasts on Friday 16 April at the Liverpool City Library from 10am and we’ll be hearing from businesses and community leaders on issues including the alternative pathways to university for high school students. Come have a cuppa and join the conversation in person, or tune in to Focus live on 702AM, online, or via the ABC listen app. |

In a first for capital city radio, Nas Campanella hosts ABC Sydney's Focus |
|
In a first for capital city radio in Australia, Nas Campanella, the ABC's national disability affairs correspondent, hosted ABC Sydney's Focus program for a couple of days over the Easter period. Campanella, who is blind, started her first show explaining the extraordinary technological feats which allowed her to host live radio. “I can’t see the desk or the screens or the buttons in front of me, and you might be thinking, ‘How on earth are you going to do this program?’ "Well, I’ve got my trusty producer Oscar sitting in the booth next to me and I’ve also got some nifty software. "It’s a robotic kind of Americanised voice called Jaws, and it’s been loaded onto the screen on the computer in front of me, and it’s going to read everything out aloud into my headphones. I will listen and repeat what I hear.” Bravo, Nas! To see what others are saying about her inspiring work, check out this post from ABC Sydney’s Facebook page. |
