Next month, we highly recommend choosing the Royal Albert Hall — which hosts not one but two incredible Films in Concert events over the last weekend of October. On Saturday 26 October, the iconic venue presents Ghostbusters in Concert — your chance to see the classic eighties sci-fi comedy on a massive screen, in a gloriously opulent auditorium, while none other than the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra perform its famous score live. The following night (Sunday 27 October) the orchestra returns — this time with the National Youth Choir and soloists in tow — for Avatar Live in Concert. If you thought James Cameron’s ground-breaking, universe-crossing epic couldn’t get any more spectacular, you’d be sorely mistaken. An 80s classic turns 40Ghostbusters was a hit when it premiered back in 1984 and endures as a pop culture behemoth a whole four decades (!) later. Relive the parapsychological shenanigans of Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddemore (AKA Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson) amid the splendour of the Royal Albert Hall. Because, if you haven’t seen the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man terrrorise the New York City to the tunes of one of London’s most esteemed concert orchestras, can you even call yourself a Ghostbusters fan? Travel to PandoraNobody does spectacle quite like James Cameron. His multi-Academy Award®-winning sci-fi epic Avatar is a natural match for the majesty of the Royal Albert Hall, with its pioneering visual effects and Oscar®-nominated score. With the third Avatar film set for release next year, now’s a perfect time to (re)discover the eye-popping world of Pandora. Both films are rated 12A — an excellent excuse to introduce older kids to a couple of classics! Fancy dress is encouraged, too (no replica weapons though, so leave those flame-throwers/proton packs at home). For the best choice of seats, book asap via the buttons above.
