Vaccination clinics run by family doctors will begin across England from Monday but people have been warned that a rise in cases after Christmas socialising could disrupt the roll out of the jabs.
View email online | | | | | Dec 14, 2020 | | | | | | Good evening Medical hubs in our cities, towns and villages have started rolling out the coronavirus vaccination programme. Each of us will be given the opportunity to have the jab in the next few months, starting with the oldest and most vulnerable in our communities. And experts say that if all goes well, we should see life starting to get back to ‘normal’ by next summer. However, there is a caveat to this exciting news and one which is giving senior medical advisors and the government some cause for concern. That is the chance that releasing many of the restrictions under which we are currently living for the Christmas celebrations could see Covid numbers rise and the vaccination programme disrupted. Restrictions will be relaxed from December 23-27 to allow families to spend time together in ‘Christmas bubbles.’ But we all need to think carefully about how we use this little bit of freedom. Some caution now in how we approach the festivities may mean that we are out of this nightmare sooner - and without a third wave of infections.
