Congratulations, Harvard Graduates!

We extend thanks to our student guides, student board members, graduate student teachers, curatorial interns, and other student researchers and assistants. Thank you for making the museums so vibrant—and for including us in your Harvard story.

Students are at the heart of so much that we do. This year, they helped connect the museums with our local communities. They blazed a trail for others interested in pursuing joint degrees in science and art. They served as guides in our galleries and provided behind-the-scenes experiences in the Straus Center for global audiences. And through their Instagram posts, they gave wider audiences a glimpse inside the museums.

To celebrate the remarkable spirit of Harvard students, we are offering free admission to all visitors on Harvard Class Day, May 24, and Harvard Commencement, May 25. See below for highlights of what awaits you on your visit; check our calendar for full details.

The Philosophy Chamber: Art and Science in Harvard’s Teaching Cabinet, 1766–1820

On view through December 31, 2017

Between 1766 and 1820, Harvard College assembled an extraordinary collection of art; mineral, plant, and animal specimens; scientific instruments; Native American artifacts; and relics from the ancient world. The collection stood at the center of artistic and intellectual life in the greater New England region for over 50 years. The Philosophy Chamber reunites many of these original objects, showcasing a range of works that have been hidden away for nearly two centuries. More
