| Midnight Oil has always been a champion for justice, whether it's Indigenous rights, the environment or nuclear disarmament. While the band hasn't recorded a new album for 20 years, Midnight Oil's latest offering has been on the boil for most of that time. The Makarrata Project takes its name from a Yolngu word for treaty, which Indigenous Australians have wanted since colonisation. Featuring Indigenous musicians from around the country, lead singer Peter Garrett hopes it will put reconciliation back on the political agenda. He joins The Friday Revue for a chat about the making of the album. |
