There was a buzz across the city back on February 16, 1967, as Ottawa was awarded an Ontario Hockey Association Major Junior A Series franchise and the Ottawa 67s were born. The Barber Poles would have to travel across the Ottawa River to play their first 11 home games at the Hull Arena. Finally though, on Friday, December 29, the Ottawa 67s took to the ice at the newly-built Civic Centre in front of a packed crowd for the very first time. Since that Friday night in the nations capital, 67s fans have witnessed many memorable moments, players, and performances, and 50 years (to the day) later, we celebrate them. Join us on Friday, December 29 at 7 p.m. as we commemorate five centuries of Ottawa hockey history and honour players and staff from our storied past. |
