In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month (running September 15-October 15, commencing with a number of countries’ independence days), we’ve compiled a list of innovative food businesses owned by people of Latin American heritage that you can support at Foodwise’s farmers markets. From Argentina to Mexico, celebrate these entrepreneurs and the diverse culinary traditions, delicious food, and talent they bring to the San Francisco Bay Area community.

Meet Our Team: Marcelo Clark

Meet one of the newest members of our team, Marcelo Clark, who joined us in May 2024 as Foodwise’s Youth Education Manager. "When we give youth the opportunity to lead, set rules, and shape the conversation, it fosters a sense of ownership and agency over their own learning," he shares.

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Featured Vendors

Tonantzin is a Mexican food business focused on Chilango and Oaxacan flavors rooted in culture, tradition, and, above all, a lot of love. Find Amalia and Saul at the Ferry Plaza on Saturdays this September.

The Sciabica family has been producing olive oil for five generations. Their olive oils are 100% extra virgin, unrefined, and cold-pressed on their farm. Visit them on Saturdays to add some kick to your summer caprese salads.

Mission Community Market: Featured Vendors

Join us at the Mission Community Market next Thursday to make papel picado, a traditional Mexican paper craft. All ages welcome!

The Pacheco family operates 230 acres of farmland in Petaluma where they raise livestock. Visit their stand for feta, kefir cheese, cultured butter, and more.
