iPhone users can now make WhatsApp their default call and Messaging app

 

The latest WhatsApp update (v25.8.74) for the iPhone means you can now set the app as the default for calls and messaging. After updating, iPhones with iOS 18.2 or higher will show WhatsApp as an option in the Messaging and Calling options list in iOS Settings/Apps/Default Apps. If you choose WhatsApp for Messaging and/or Calling, your iPhone will automatically open the app when necessary, instead of firing up Apple's Messages and Phone/FaceTime apps ...
