God’s Word often sits and collects dust on our shelves. We have many copies lying around the house and often take for granted the power of Scripture. But every once in a while, I come across a story that causes me to pause and consider what a gift the Bible truly is.
In this time of the pandemic, with so many churches closing their physical doors, there is talk of persecution. But the reality is that here in the United States, we are pretty comfortable. In an interview with Anne Zaki in Egypt, I found a reminder of this fact. “God’s Word is Like Manna in the Middle East” is a powerful look into how important scripture truly is. I loved this quote, “God’s Word became the manna that doesn’t stop coming down from heaven. And I knew I didn’t need to hoard it for myself.” Yes, God’s Word is not just for us, but it is meant to be shared. Here’s hoping we can cherish it this week in ways that ground us and grow our faith.
