| Hello. Mexico and Canada may have received a temporary reprieve from US tariffs, but China did not. Our China correspondent Laura Bicker looks into the repercussions of the growing trade war. In India, correspondent Soutik Biswas reports on the outbreak of a rare and incurable condition. We're also covering floods in Australia and a ceasefire in DR Congo. And finally, an English pub's publicity stunt ends up costing more than expected. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Trump's China tariffs take effect |
|

Credit: Reuters | US President Donald Trump has put plans for new tariffs on Mexico and Canada on hold for 30 days after the two countries agreed to increased border security measures. Chinese imports in the US, however, are from today subject to an additional 10% tax. In response, Beijing has announced it will impose tariffs on a raft of American products, including 15% on coal and liquefied natural gas and 10% on crude oil and agricultural machinery. Some business owners caught in the trade rivalry between the world's two largest economies told China correspondent Laura Bicker of their concerns for the future. |

And finally... | A pub landlady scored a bit of an own goal after offering a free beer for every goal scored by Nottingham Forest in a recent football match. Beccy Webster, who runs the Gedling Inn in Nottinghamshire, England, said she may have lost as much as £1,500 ($1,820) thanks to Forest winning 7-0. But she said she didn't think about how much it was costing as "everyone was having such a good time". | |
