Maxim's Ultra-Low-Power Bioimpedance Analog Front End is Targeting Wearables

Maxim’s MAX30009 is a Bioimpedance (BioZ) Analog Front-End (AFE) solution for wearable applications in clinical settings. The performance factor is high for clinical, wellness, and fitness applications. The AFE solution has ultra-low power for a long battery lifecycle. The BioZ receive channel has Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) filtering, internal lead biasing, DC lead-off detection, and DRVN lead-off detection.

Analog Devices ADT7410, Combined with Adafruit’s IO and CircuitPython Library Create a DIY PyPortal IoT Data Logger

Analog Devices Inc’s ADT7410 temperature sensor is a high-accuracy digital measuring device in a narrow SOICV package. It contains a band gap temperature reference and a 13-bit ADC to monitor and digitize to a 0.0625°C resolution. The ADC can be set to 13-bit, or 16-bit (0.0078°C) by setting Bit 7 in the configuration register.

How the Markets are Reacting to the

Analog-to-Digital Converter Surge

The markets in 2021 had a surge in the analog to digital converter (ADC) space, reaching an overall value of USD $2.3 billion. While this trend has been sharply upward, analysts are seeing a CAGR of 5.40% from 2022 – 2027.

Some of this trend is because more and more devices are being manufactured in a digital form, from start to finish. The signal inputs are digital rather than from an analog device. But overall, the pricing is falling, and the use cases are holding steady.

The ADC is used in many places and will not fall victim to digitization. The ADC is an electric circuit that converts an input analog signal to a digital form that can be read and processed to be read by a microcontroller. There are so many uses for this circuit, that a reduction in use, even with the advancement of digitization is unlikely.

The ADC is used in the digital oscilloscope, which is a constant companion to the modern mechanic in the automotive industry. The digital oscilloscopes are used to diagnose problems with ignition systems, solenoids, sensors, actuators and communication data systems. As the EV becomes more prevalent, drivers, in general, are seeking a comfortable, safe driving experience, especially in the motorcycle industry.

With the advent of streaming services, the use of the ADC is becoming more and more a regular feature in the computer space. Mobile phone subscribers are using services like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, and YouTube Music, which represents a strong element in the growth of the ADC market.

Market watchers, at ResearchandMarkets.com, report that the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) emergence, along with the advances in precision manufacturing, is anticipated to catalyze demand for ADCs in many areas of industrial automation. This can be a lucrative growth opportunity for the market players in the sector.
