Avnet and Renesas Collaborate on a new Embedded SMARC Module Family

In a move to once again develop technologies together, Avnet Embedded and Renesas have renewed their cooperation on a new embedded SMARC module family. The cost-efficient module family is based on the RZ/G2UL processors.

Avnet has developed a new series of modules based on the Renesas RZ/G2UL ARM Cortex-A65 processors. The resulting SMARC module family is the MSC SM2S-G2UL SMARC 2.1.1 a compact, high-performance embedded module family entering a new price/performance class.

iBase Receives Two Awards at the APEA 2022

A top executive and the company at iBase Technology received Asia-Pacific Enterprise Awards (APEA) 2022, announced on November 17, 2022. The awards were in Corporate Excellence in the manufacturing industry and Master Entrepreneur for Mr. C.S. Lin Founder and Chairman of the company.

The APEA is a highly regarded awards regional award for the recognition of entrepreneurial excellence. APEA is meant to band leading entrepreneurs and organizations across Asia.

Congatec CoMs are small and reliable, as usual

Congatec has developed Computer-on-Modules (CoMs) that are small and reliable, as is usually the case.

The CoM is a small circuit board plugged into a standard connector on an application-specific carrier board. The CoM is a computer with a processor and all the vital peripherals in one place.

Most of the interface circuitry can be found on the module, including PCIe, Ethernet, SATA, display interfaces, and general-purpose I/Os. These interfaces get routed to the appropriate ports on the carrier board, where data collection of compute operations happen.

The world of embedded electronics is becoming more fluid, with many mainstream device manufacturers going over to embedded systems. In our roundup of companies to watch, there are three news worthy organizations to keep an eye this week.

The partnership between Avnet and Renesas bears looking into, because they companies are pulling in customers from around the globe, to check out their offering of embedded boards. SMARC 2.1 is on the rise and people want to take advantage

In the second, even more interesting development this week, the APEA 2022 resulted in IBASE Technologies winning major awards. This is a Taiwan based awards event, and has a number of ramifications.

Not the least of which is how the USA is seeking to manufacture more chips, as Taiwan is the biggest chip manufacturing contry in the world and has been in the Chinese crosshairs for some time now.

Finally, Congatec has released seven new boards and they have great versatility. These CoMs rule over a major portion of the carrier and CoM industry. Loads to unpack this week, lets get to it.
