| IoT Modules Offer Secure Link to AWS Cloud | U-blox has announced two modules designed to enable Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services for device and fleet management out of the box: the NORA-W2 AWS IoT ExpressLink Wi-Fi module and the SARA-R5 AWS IoT ExpressLink cellular module for internet of things (IoT) connectivity. The AWS IoT ExpressLink modules will significantly accelerate design-in and time to market, says the company. | |
| FPC Antenna Supports 4G/LTE and 5G NR | Antenova has announced “Affini”, a flexible printed circuit (FPC) antenna for the LTE, 4G and 5G NR networks in global markets. This antenna covers all main 4G bands plus 617-698MHz which offers 5G coverage and the popular Band 71. The Affini antenna measures 78mm x 17mm x 0.15mm, which is small, yet it delivered high efficiency in tests. | |
| Grid Monitoring System Taps Semtech’s LoRa Tech | Semtech has announced its collaboration with Elvexys and Oiken for an Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled sensor. Elvexys leverages Semtech’s LoRa devices and LoRaWAN connectivity to provide real-time data to Oiken’s supervision control room when a power grid failure is detected. According to Oiken, using the LoRaWAN standard for smart grid monitoring was simple to integrate into their existing SCADA system. | |
| DIY IoT Solution (Part 1): Hardware and Firmware | The IoT is the new “everything solution.” However, for small problems, the first step in an IoT solution can be large because it crosses so many technological boundaries: sensors, mechanics, power, radio, Wi-Fi, web, smartphones and so on. In the first part of this series, Tom explains how he built the hardware and firmware for a Photon-based garage door monitoring system. | |
| RPi CM4 Gateway Has Multiple Wireless Options | TechDesign is taking orders for a wireless-oriented, 170mm x 110mm x 30mm gateway that runs Linux on a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. The Industrial IoT Gateway with Raspberry Pi CM4, also referred to as the WPC-632-Pi, has a 9-32VDC input and -20°C to 75°C operating range. | |
Edge AI System Combines Octa-Core Arm SoC with Hailo-8 NPU Axiomtek’s rugged “RSC100” edge AI system runs Linux on an octa-core Arm processor accompanied by a Hailo-8 NPU. Highlights include 4GB LPDDR4, 16GB eMMC, 2x GbE, 2x CAN, 2x mini-PCIe and 2x M.2. | | |
