Embedded Controllers Provide Energy Harvesting Solution Renesas Electronics has introduced its RE Family, which encompasses the company's current and future lineup of energy harvesting embedded controllers. The RE Family is based on Renesas' proprietary SOTB (Silicon on Thin Buried Oxide) process technology, which dramatically reduces power consumption in both the active and standby states, eliminating the need for battery replacement or recharging. UI Software Framework for STM32 MCUsGets Upgrade STMicroelectronics (ST) has updated the TouchGFX user-interface software framework for STM32 microcontrollers, adding new features that enable smoother and more dynamic user interfaces and lower demand on the memory and CPU. TouchGFX is a free tool in the STM32 ecosystem. Comprising two parts---TouchGFX Designer PC tool for designing and configuring rich user interfaces, and TouchGFX Engine software that runs on the end-device to secure high UI performance---the latest version 4.12 contains updates to both. MCU is Optimized for Automotive 77 GHz Radar Applications Infineon Technologies is adding a new member to its automotive microcontroller (MCU) family AURIX. TC3A will address new automotive 77 GHz radar applications such as high-end corner radar systems for advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving, says Infineon. New features include a new signal processing unit, a large SRAM memory dedicated to radar and four TriCore processors running at 300 MHz with two additional lockstep cores.
