That, microprocessors (MPUs) would replace the workhorse MCU as advancements in devices became more complex and usage was dropping. This turned out to not be true. As seen in this past year, microcontroller markets are robust, rising from $18.5 billion in 2021, to $19.71 billion in 2022. The end-of-decade projection shows a CAGR of 9.8% from 2022 to 2030. Rather than a decline, MCUs are on the increase in all major industries that use the workhorse device. There is an even better report for the CAGR of IoT microcontrollers with a $4.69 billion share in 2021, and an increase to 12.9% overall for the end-of-decade projections. |
