CISUs initiativpris 2025 går til FANT På CISUs generalforsamling den 26. april uddelte CISUs bestyrelse CISUs initiativpris. Den går til en organisation, som har gjort en særlig indsats for at inspirere og/eller mobilisere danskerne til at engagere sig i det globale udviklingsarbejde. I år gik prisen til FANT, For A New Tomorrow. De modtog den for deres program Connected Leadership, der etablerer en forbindelse mellem dansk erhvervsliv og civilsamfundet i Sierra Leone. Svend Stenberg Mølholt, bestyrelsesformand i FANT, modtog prisen. - Tak! Det er en kæmpe ære. Gennem erhvervslivet har jeg modtaget mange anerkendelser, men aldrig på denne måde. Det her går meget mere i hjertet, lød det. Svend Stenberg Mølholt spiller en helt særlig rolle i programmet, da han slet ikke var medlem af FANT, da det blev etableret. Han var direktør i Monjasa, der er en stor shippingvirksomhed. Han var dengang på udkig efter en lederuddannelse til virksomheden. - Det startede rent egoistisk for ti år siden med, at vi skulle have en uddannelse, én, som skulle spejle måden, hvorpå vi drev forretningen, gennem relationer og global forbundethed, fortæller han. I Connected Leadership tager danske erhvervsledere på efteruddannelse til Sierra Leone, hvor de samarbejder med civilsamfundsorganisationer. Programmet kører to gange om året og har efterhånden haft 70 ledere igennem. Nyt kursus i strategisk advocacy â tilmeldingen er Ã¥ben CISU tilbyder nu et nyt kursus i strategisk advocacy,fortalervirksomhed, som skal styrke medlemsorganisationer og deres partneres arbejde med at pÃ¥virke beslutningstagere. Strategisk advocacy kan være afgørende for at skabe varige forbedringer for fattige og marginaliserede grupper. Mange af de udfordringer, som disse grupper oplever, har rødder i manglende eller utilstrækkelig lovgivning, svag implementering af eksisterende regler eller manglende politisk prioritering. Kurset giver redskaber til at arbejde systematisk med advocacy og bidrage til ændringer i politik, lovgivning eller offentlige budgetter. â Mange initiativer lykkes kun med at skabe bæredygtige forandringer, hvis der ogsÃ¥ sker ændringer pÃ¥ strukturelt niveau, siger rÃ¥dgiver Maya Lindberg Brink. â Kurset her hjælper deltagerne med at planlægge og gennemføre strategisk advocacy, der kan Ã¥bne døre og fÃ¥ indflydelse pÃ¥ beslutningsprocesser, siger hun. Styrk organisationens ansvarlighed â nyt kursus om accountability Medlemsorganisationer og bevillingshavere kan den 22. maj fÃ¥ indsigt i krav og forventninger til ansvarlighed i arbejdet og forvaltningen af midler. Det sker pÃ¥ et fælles kursus udbudt af CISU og Danske Handicaporganisationer. Kom i teatret med OpEn Den 9. maj inviterer Ãsterbro Teater til en aften med forfatter Peder Frederik Jensen og fotograf Anders Rye Skjoldjensen, der stÃ¥r bag OpEn-projektet Under samme mÃ¥ne. New Faces on CISUâs Board At CISUâs General Assembly on Saturday, April 26, no fewer than 13 candidates ran for the four board seats up for election. Four board members and three alternates were to be elected. The newly elected board members are Jesper Alstrøm from SDG World, Anne Egelund from Ubumi Prisons Initiative, Torsten Malmdorf from Seniors Without Borders, and Peter Zartsdahl from Engineers Without Borders (IUG). Najiba Akbari from Afghan Daanish Foundation was elected as first alternate, Morten Nielsen from Global Aktion as second alternate, and Rikke Nagell from the AIDS Foundation as third alternate. Mathilde Vinther-Larsen from Dentists Without Borders was elected as internal auditor. In addition, the board includes Camilla Legendre from 100% for the Children, Toke Nyborg from Aktion Amazonas, and Stefan Islandi from the Danish Cancer Society. CISU: The Worldâs Crises Need a Strong Civil Society At CISUâs General Assembly, the CISU board together with 40 other organisations issued the following statement. We have recently witnessed a wave of troubling developments: In the past five years, the number of global conflicts has doubled Civil liberties are in steep decline â three-quarters of the worldâs population now live in closed or repressive societies 1.2 billion people will be at risk if they are unable to adapt to climate change 35% of the Sustainable Development Goals and their targets are either stagnating or regressing Development cooperation funding is under immense pressure due to USAID closures and cuts in numerous countries In other words, thereâs no shortage of challenges for CISUâs 300 member organisations working toward a more just world. Fortunately, Danish civil society organisations are increasingly engaging in global partnerships â and it makes a difference. Research on the role of civil society in development work shows that Danish civil society organisations play a key role in enabling locally led development. For example, 91.3% of all grant-supported initiatives foster systemic change through partnerships. It is precisely the partnership between Danish and local civil society organisations that ensures development is locally driven. This is crucial, because all lasting and sustainable change starts with the people who make the change and benefit from it. Thatâs why, especially in times of crisis, it is essential to strengthen the commitment and foundation for work that delivers locally led and systemic change. In this spirit, CISU has outlined eight proposals for Denmarkâs next development policy strategy: Strengthen the grant mechanisms as drivers of locally led change Make public awareness and engagement a goal in itself Put equal and locally led partnerships at the centre Treat civil society as a key actor in crisis response Use civil society support to mobilise private financing sources Empower civil society to drive efforts in employment, climate, and biodiversity Ensure climate adaptation is locally anchored through broad collaboration Prioritise long-term, stable, and patient support for civil society
CISUâs 2025 Initiative Award Goes to FANT At CISUâs General Assembly on April 26, the CISU board presented the CISU Initiative Award. The award is given to an organisation that has made a special effort to inspire and/or mobilise Danes to engage in global development work. This year, the award went to FANT, For A New Tomorrow. They received it for their âConnected Leadershipâ program, which builds bridges between Danish businesses and civil society in Sierra Leone. Svend Stenberg Mølholt, Chair of the Board at FANT, accepted the award. âThank you! Itâs a tremendous honour. Iâve received many recognitions through the business world, but never in this way. This one truly touches the heart,â he said. Svend Stenberg Mølholt plays a unique role in the program, as he wasnât even a member of FANT when it began. At the time, he was the director of Monjasa, a major shipping company. He had been looking for a leadership training course for his company. âIt all started selfishly ten years ago with the need for a training programme â one that would reflect how we did business, through relationships and global connectedness,â he explains. In the âConnected Leadershipâ program, Danish business leaders go on further training trips to Sierra Leone, where they collaborate with civil society organisations. New Course on Strategic Advocacy â Registration Now Open CISU is now offering a new course on strategic advocacy, aimed at strengthening member organisations and their partners in influencing decision-makers. Strategic advocacy can be key to achieving lasting improvements for poor and marginalised groups. Many of the challenges these groups face stem from inadequate legislation, weak implementation of existing policies, or a lack of political prioritisation. The course provides tools for working systematically with advocacy and contributing to changes in policy, legislation, or public budgets. â Many initiatives can only achieve sustainable change if structural-level change also takes place, says advisor Maya Lindberg Brink. â This course helps participants plan and carry out strategic advocacy that can open doors and influence decision-making processes, she explains. The course is aimed at organisations and partners working on projects where influencing political decisions is part of the effort. It is relevant both for those who already have experience engaging with public authorities but struggle to achieve results, and for those who wish to strengthen the advocacy component in their current or future projects. Strengthen Your Organisationâs Accountability â New Course Available On May 22, member organisations and grant recipients can gain insights into the requirements and expectations for accountability in their work and financial management.
