A Baltimore police officer was shot Sunday evening in West Baltimore’s Poppleton neighborhood — in the same block where two people were shot last week, according to police.

The officer was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was doing well and was expected to be released Sunday evening, according to James Bentley, a spokesman for Mayor Catherine E. Pugh.
