The city says it's on schedule to clear the homeless encampment along North Claiborne Avenue by Friday, just in time for Mardi Gras weekend, and advocates say those living under the elevated expressway will be housed by then. That's welcome news to Treme residents and businesses who have been frustrated by pace of the effort. Sophie Kasakove has the story. Unincorporated Jefferson Parish won't resume curbside recycling following a 4-3 vote by the parish council against a $6.1 million contract with Ramelli Waste. Marie Fazio has the details. The National Hurricane Center's new forecast track will do more than show the expected area where hurricanes and tropical storms may travel.
