Why Big Data Is ‘Strategic Spaghetti’ For Retailers
 

Retailers large and small can sometimes feel like they are throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks when it comes to influencing customer behavior. Big data takes the guesswork out of understanding customers, so that, in the words of Vantiv VP of data products, Nicole Jass, retailers can throw their spaghetti strategically. In a recent interview with Karen Webster, Jass said that data, properly distilled and synthesized, has the power to change both the merchant’s view of its consumers and the consumer’s view of the merchant — and also what they are willing to buy.
