Voornaam, Republican Cliff Bentz joined Congress a little more than a month ago, and he's wasted no time failing Oregonians. First, on what was just his third day in office, Bentz voted to object to the certification of Pennsylvania's Electoral College votes, supporting an effort to disenfranchise and throw out the legally cast ballots of nearly 7 million Americans. Next, he voted against impeaching Donald Trump, calling the notion of holding Trump accountable for inciting an insurrection against a co-equal branch of government a "rush to judgement." Then, he refused to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her House Committees over her history of supporting lies and conspiracy theories, anti-Semitism, and violence against Democratic officials. Bentz said he found her previous comments and actions "deeply offensive and totally unacceptable," but apparently not unacceptable enough to do anything about them. Oregonians in Congressional District Two deserve better than a representative who repeatedly puts party over country. Defeating Bentz in 2022 will be no small task, but now is the time for us to lay the groundwork for this and other important Democratic victories up and down the ballot.
