Bring your appetite and your neighbours to Community Eats, where delicious meals meet great company. This free community dinner program is all about friendship, connection, and hearty food. Since launching in 2019, Community Eats has expanded to include Cooby Eats, Yangebup Eats, and Hami Eats, each serving up warm meals and even warmer welcomes.

No questions, no costs, just good food and good vibes. Join us for a fun, relaxed night where strangers become friends, and everyone leaves with a full heart and belly.

Hats off to Cockburn's best honoured

The City of Cockburn announced its 2025 Community Citizen of the Year Award recipients recently, celebrating individuals and groups making a difference in our community.

2025 Award Recipients

  • Community Citizen of the Year – Overall: Maureen Fisher-Sim
    A tireless volunteer, Maureen has founded and supported numerous initiatives, including Hami Helps Inc. and Hami Eats, fostering community connection and unity.
  • Youth (16-30 years): Atlas Pillinger
    An advocate for youth, Atlas has played key roles in events like the PRIDE & Progress Ball and Rotary Spring Fair while representing young voices in Cockburn.
  • Senior (65+ years): Lucia Scata
    For more than 32 years, Lucia has volunteered at the Silver Chain Social Centre, cooking traditional Italian meals and providing companionship.
  • Active Citizenship – Group: Treeby Community Association
    The association strengthens community ties with free wellness sessions, seasonal celebrations, and advocacy to improve local amenities.

Congratulations to all recipients for their remarkable contributions to building a stronger, more connected Cockburn!

Nominations now open for 2025 Cockburn Volunteer Awards!

The 2025 Cockburn Volunteer Awards are now open! This is your chance to celebrate the incredible volunteers and organisations who make a real difference in the Cockburn community.

Nominate an extraordinary individual or organisation to recognise their outstanding volunteering efforts. There is a total prize pool of $3,600 across three categories:

  • Volunteer Organisation of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Mayor’s Volunteer Award
