Cockburn very important volunteers - discount cards


Did you know that if are a volunteer in City of Cockburn then you can get a VIV Card (very important volunteer) which gives you discounts to a variety of businesses across Cockburn.

Free family fun at the Cultural Fair - this Saturday 10 April


Get yourself along to the Cockburn Cultural Fair this Saturday 10 April, 3-7pm, at Harmony Oval, Harmony Ave, Atwell. This annual event celebrates the different cultures of Cockburn with yummy foods available, international music from Soukouss Internationale, Chili Con Curly, Itayicious and SegaLoya Dance.

There will be a range of free activities around the grounds like a caricaturist, a kids craft tent, and the grand final of Cockburn’s Got Talent!

Build resilience and hope workshops - May


We live in challenging times, and life can feel like a rollercoaster. We can feel overwhelmed, anxious, and despairing at times.  Build your resilience and that of your community by taking part in these four workshops. Learn new tools and build connections!
 
These four workshops are for you, if you ask yourself:
  • What future are we creating for our kids?
  • How can I cope with what’s happening in the world?
  • Can I make a difference?
  • Are there others who feel the same?

When: Mondays 3 May to 24 May, 9.15am – 11.45am
Where: Yangebup Family Centre, 11 Dunraven Drive, Yangebup
Cost: $20 for workshop series & $20 per child for 4 creche sessions

Federal Volunteer Grants - lodge an expression of interest by Thursday 15 April


Are you in a community group, club or organisation who could benefit from financial assistance? 

Federal grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help community organisations operating in Fremantle, Cockburn, or East Fremantle to buy equipment such as laptops, pay fuel costs, or assist with volunteer training costs. 

The first step is to lodge an expression of interest with Josh Wilson MP office by Thursday 15 April.

Cyber Safety workshop for adults to learn about risks to children (and us!) - 28 April


Looking for some information about cyber safety for your children or yourself? Meerilinga Cockburn is offering a free workshop on Wednesday 28 April, 6.30pm presented by Simon Carabetta.

  • Navigating online interactivity - gaming and social media
  • Apps - the safety and privacy features we need to know

Thinking about getting to know your neighbours, or making time to catch up with the people in your street?

If you are a resident or group in the City of Cockburn, you are eligible for NEIGHBOURHOOD NETWORKING FUND. $50 to spend on food, decorations, entertainment of promotion.

This funding is available all year round.

Cockburn Community Men's Open Day - Sunday 18 April


You never know what you might find at the Cockburn Community Men's Shed Open Day! Check it out on Sunday 18 April, 10am-3pm, at the shed - 2 Sullivan Street in Cockburn Central. 

Items for sale - tours of the shed - demonstrations - plants - bric-a-brac - tea+coffee - sausages - cakes - scones.. AND MORE.

Forget me not memory cafe - group for people living with dementia and their carers


Are you, or a family member, or someone you care for living with dementia? Come along and join others travelling the same road for a coffee and a chat in a warm friendly environment, 

When: 4th Tuesday of every month
