Hi,
AOL and Yahoo used to own the internet. Now they’ve been combined, and they’re owned by a phone company.
On the other hand, those two assets still reach close to a billion people, which means they are still a very big deal. It’s Guru Gowrappan’s job to make them a bigger deal.
Gowrappan is the CEO of Verizon Media, which means he’s in charge of overhauling Yahoo and AOL — which means selling off and shutting down some parts of those properties and creating new ones, with new revenue streams.
That’s an awfully difficult task, but Gowrappan will be dropping by Code Media next month to give us a status report in one of our Red Chair interviews — live, unrehearsed, and on the record. We can’t wait to hear from him, along with a star-studded roster of speakers from the media and tech world we’ve already told you about.
