Friend, Look how excited we were! Oh, four years ago. You were something else. So what’s happened since then? Let’s review: Trump became president. Trump appointed public-interest enemy Ajit Pai to chair the FCC. Pai eradicated the FCC’s Net Neutrality rules. Congress tried to overturn Pai’s bad move — winning enough votes in the Senate but falling short in the House. The 2018 midterms marked a game change in Congress. The most diverse class in congressional history was sworn in.Which brings us up to the last few weeks. Republicans in Congress know that the public wants Net Neutrality. But they’re happy to introduce whatever legislation the cable and phone companies tell them to. Whether those bills actually protect the open internet (spoiler alert: they don’t) doesn’t matter to them. | ||||||||
