It was satire then, but now we have Sami writing about assimmilating mussels into a borg collective. “Our aim is to establish an ‘internet-of-mussels’ and monitor their individual and collective behavior. This will ultimately enable us to use them as environmental sensors or sentinels.” Once again, satire becomes reality.
