Dear friend, As Congress works to wrap up a new COVID relief package and year end funding bill, I have been very busy fighting for Americans. Next week, as we head into the Holiday season, we will be just as busy and my next newsletter will be jam packed! Live with Hahn At the end of last week, I had another Live with Tim conversation with FDA Commissioner Hahn; this time to talk specifically about the steps forward we have seen with COVID vaccines. The FDA worked tirelessly to ensure that these vaccines are safe and effective. We have already seen Pfizer’s vaccine on the market and people have already begun getting the injection. Commissioner Hahn shared specifics about who is receiving the vaccine now and why. We also discussed the future of COVID vaccines, allergies, testing alternatives. Opportunity Zone- Erie, Pa Also last Friday, we premiered our second Virtual Opportunity Zones Tour! Erie, Pennsylvania is the poorest zip code in the United States, with a median annual income of $10,631. The Erie Downtown Development Corporation (EDDC) is investing more than $100 million to bring hundreds of jobs to downtown Erie. I stand with the leadership of the EDDC in sharing my excitement for the growth and economic opportunity that is inevitable in Erie. You can watch this virtual tour here. We will be continuing our virtual tour series, and you will want to follow along! You can follow me on Twitter for updates on these projects and more! Judge Dawson Wednesday, I had the honor of watching my friend, Judge Joe Dawson, be confirmed as a federal judge for South Carolina’s district court. I have known Joe for almost 20 years, and he has shown what it means to be a life-long servant. Judge Dawson is a man of integrity and strong character, a great husband and father, and I respect and appreciate him. Judge Dawson is now the only African-American man serving on South Carolina’s district court. I am proud of my former colleague and proud of what he stands for. I am excited to see him serve my great state of South Carolina in this capacity! Thank you for staying updated on my work from week to week. Don’t forget, you can sign up for all my issue-specific newsletters, in addition to my weekly update, here. Also, please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina here in Washington. I want to wish everyone a safe and healthy Christmas. Sincerely,
