Look who’s new on staff

Brian T. Hang, MD, joined the Divisions of Orthopedics and Emergency Medicine in September. Dr. Hang completed his fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in sports medicine at Lutheran General Hospital. Prior to that, he finished his pediatric residency at New York University School of Medicine and received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Hang is board certified in pediatrics. Dr. Hang will have a Sports Medicine clinic at Children's Memorial's Outpatient Centers in Arlington Heights and New Lenox, and will also be practicing emergency medicine in the main ho
spital location.
Joshua Prozialeck, MD, joined the Division of Gastroenterology in August. After attending Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Prozialeck completed his residency in pediatrics and his fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Children’s Memorial. Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Prozialeck belongs to the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition as well as the American Gastroenterological Association. He sees patients at Children's Memorial's Outpatient Centers in Lincoln Park and Arlington Heights.
Stephen R. Hoff, MD, joined the Division of Otolaryngology in August. Dr. Hoff completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Illinois Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary, followed by a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, CA. Dr. Hoff sees patients in Lincoln Park at the main hospital as well as Children's Memorial's Outpatient Centers in Westchester and New Lenox. Dr. Hoff will also offer Saturday morning hours at the New Lenox location on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
Risa Ann Alperin, MD, joined the Division of Rheumatology in September. She recently completed her fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Prior to that, she finished her pediatric residency at New York- Presbyterian Hospital/Weil Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Alperin is board certified in pediatrics. She sees patients in Lincoln Park at the main hospital as well Children's Memorial's Outpatient Centers at Central DuPage Hospital, Westchester, Arlington Heights, Glenview and Lake Forest.

Hematology/Oncology APN featured in The Oncology Nurse
Jacqueline Marie Toia, RN, MS, DNP, a pediatric hematology/oncology nurse practitioner at Children’s Memorial, was recently featured in the The Oncology Nurse. Jacqueline discusses her experience working in one of the top 10 oncology programs in the United States, and how the courage and involvement of the patients and families receiving treatment at Children's Memorial provides a guiding vision for the program. Children’s Memorial Hospital to offer Electronic Medical Record to community-based practices
In September, President and CEO, Patrick Magoon announced that Children’s Memorial is offering the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) through a new program called Children’s Community Connect to physicians on staff at the hospital. The system will be tailored to pediatric practices and will be offered at a substantial discount due to federal regulations that allow hospitals to subsidize certain components of EHR technology. Demonstrations of the EHR will be held at various locations through the month of November for community-based practices. New specialized preventative cardiology program at Children's Memorial Outpatient Center in Arlington Heights
Children’s Memorial is offering a new preventative cardiology program for patients 2 years and older. Patients who are overweight or obese, have a significant family history of hypercholesterolemia, or early coronary artery disease are appropriate referrals for this service.

Evaluations include ECG laboratory testing, exercise stress testing, as well as routine weight checks and blood pressure measurements. Learn more »
Important notice - dvision offices have moved
On June 9, 2012, Children’s Memorial Hospital is becoming Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the main hospital will be moving to 225 E. Chicago Avenue.

During 2011, the Outpatient Center in Lincoln Park (at Clark and Deming) is being renovated so that we can expand our services at this location. Due to this renovation, some of our staff offices are moving and phone numbers will be changing.

Effective September 12, 2011 the following divisions will have these new phone numbers:

Allergy and Immunology
Kidney Diseases
Orthopaedic Surgery/Sports and Rehabilitative Medicine
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Effective November 7, 2011 the following divisions will have these new phone numbers:

General Academic Pediatrics
Motion Analysis Center

Recent news

Heliport approved
On October 15, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) issued its final approval to operate the rooftop heliport at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. This review completes the regulatory approvals for heliport operations to begin when Lurie Children’s opens in June of 2012.
