I’ll be speaking with the activist and award-winning writer Naomi Klein on these issues
Hello reader, On Wednesday 27 September, I’ll be speaking with the activist and award-winning writer Naomi Klein at a special Guardian Live event, presented in partnership with Manchester Literature Festival. For years, Naomi Klein shrugged off being mistaken for a fellow author and public intellectual whose name and public persona were similar enough that many might have confused them. That is, until her ‘double’ became a full-time disseminator of misinformation and disinformation on everything from vaccines to a sinister new world order. In her new book, Doppelganger, Klein reflects on the effects of being mistaken for someone whose views are contrary to her own and shares what she found when she decided to follow her doppelganger down the conspiracy rabbit hole. You can join us live at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester or via the livestream, as we explore the blurred lines created by our lives online, conspiracy theories and the politics of the far right. Tickets are available here. I hope to see you there. Zoe Williams Columnist, the Guardian |
